With a Heartbeat- Blank Verse

So simple a sound the beat of a heart
Yet it reminds us we’re alive today
Alive another day to make a choice
Carefully think it over every way
Select a good plan to continue on
Through the years God gave living cheerfully

Draft & rules

It starts simply with the beat of a heart
Each ka-thump reminds us we are alive
Every beat gives us each another choice
Bend over dear and take it in the rear
Or stand up tall and fight for your beliefs
Think it over, make your choice carefully
You'll have to live with it 'til your last day

Rules: A type of poetry, distinguished by having a regular meter, but no rhyme. In English, the meter most commonly used with blank verse has been iambic pentameter. The iambic pentameter form often resembles the rhythms of speech. It consists of a line ten syllables long that is accented on every second beat da-Dum da-Dum

Does it work? Let me know!
