Day 12 of 30: Unknown

Foreword

I do not usually use colour for my writing but for this one I decided it needed it.

An image come to mind each time I see a gun
Of the bloodied body of a child lying in the street
The image is a nighmare from a part of my mind
I can't reach
Unknown child
Cut down
In the street
The fear, that I see a past I've forgotten
Or a future that is yet to come, fills me
Some time, some place, I've seen it before
Unknown child
Cut down
In the street
So very young
Then I turned on the news to see what was happening
There in glorious color I saw that image again
Another child cut down in a drive-by shooting
Cut down
In the street
So very young
One more gone
I could collapse and weep, pray their soul to keep
What is really needed takes more than me
End the violence, destroy every gun
In the street
So very young
One more gone
Let my will be done
